Whilst some people may have dismissed juicing and blending fruits and vegetables as a fad at the beginning, the sales of juicers and blenders continue to rise as more people are feeling the benefits of a juicing diet. Here’s what you can expect:

For years, people thought you had to eat five portions of fruit and veg a day. Even that was a struggle sometimes. But recently, they’ve changed the recommendations. When you juice fruits and vegetables, you remove the insoluble fibre, meaning the nutrients within are available to the body in much larger quantities than if the piece of fruit or vegetable was eaten whole. Vouchercloud cites the humble carrot’s beta-carotene benefits: “as most of the nutrients are trapped in the fibre of the carrot when eating, you’re only able to assimilate about 1% of the available beta-carotene. When juiced, you can assimilate nearly 100% of the betacarotene.”

Juicing isn’t just for losing weight – it can just be a part of a healthy lifestyle, as long as you stick to mainly vegetable-based juices so you aren’t consuming loads of extra calories that may come from fruit juicing. But it’s good for your digestive track too. As juices require less processing from the stomach, it can rest whilst extracting all those beneficial nutrients.

        4. You’ll feel more energetic

Getting extra nutrients from juicing will make you feel better, as well as more energetic. What’s more, you can tailor your juices to whatever you think your body needs more of. For example, iron – found in kale and spinach – is a key component of energy production, while ginger and avocados have been found to help with bloating.

You might assume picking up a juice at the shops is just as good as juicing at home. But they tend to offer a lot less in the way of nutrients, and have more fructose sugar content, including added sugar, than ones you’ll make at home. If you have to buy one from a supermarket, look out for organic, raw and cold-pressed juices that are mainly vegetable-based.
