Herbs: How To Plant, Raise, & Cook Your Own Organics!
The “Green Thumb“. Some of us have it, and almost all of us want it. My mother and grandfather had “it”. And, I’ve discovered over the past 2 years that I finally have developed it. I plant & grow my own organic veggies and herbs in my backyard, and I LOVE it!
For years, I would rush off to the store and buy bottles on top of bottles of dried spices. I would also spend $3-$5 on fresh herbs like Thyme, Rosemary, and Oregano when I wanted to cook something up fancy for guests or when I was cooking a holiday dinner. How much moolah do you shell out on dried spices or fresh herbs? In the past 2 years, I’ve been trying to live a more sustainable way of living, and with that I’ve turned to growing my own plants. Last year, it was tomatoes, green peppers, and green onions.
This year, I’ve expanded my garden to include the following:
- Green Onions
I also have a pretty decent herb garden in my backyard. Basil, Mint, Oregano, Dill, Chives, Rosemary… to name a few!
One may think that it takes a lot to grow veggies and/or herbs, but really, it’s not hard at all. All you need to is a little research on the foods you want to grow, some good soil, and some pots. Oh… I forgot to mention… All of the plants I have are growing from pots; I’m not growing them in the ground.
