prAna is that something

We create versatile, stylish, and sustainable clothing and accessories that you can wear during every activity, every adventure, every day. How do we know? Because we base our designs on our own experiences. You see we’re more than makers, we’re doers—yogis, climbers, and world travelers—and we use our knowledge to make clothes that look good and play hard. We like to focus on the details, and aren’t afraid to go bold when it comes to colors and whimsical patterns. We love to combine classic style with modern materials, ever mindful of where and how our creations are made.

I Get To Choose & Review !

I had the wonderful opportunity to try a few items from the PrAna clothing website, thanks to MomMeet and Ryan Finley. they allowed me to choose one top and pair of jeans from their site. A full outfit of my choice in return for my review of their sustainable clothing line….what a blessing! This means a lot to me because over the past 1-2 years, I have been moving more and towards better, healthier living for not just me and my family, but for Mother Earth, too. I have switched to more organic and natural foods, as well as switched to natural and organically made cosmetics. So..to be able to get a chance to have clothing that is sustainably made…whoa!

Wait A Sec…What ARE Sustainable Clothes,Anyway?
I know that a lot of people don’t really know what the term “sustainable clothing” means. Heck, I didn’t even really know until 4 months ago, honestly. So…here’s a defintion I found online from ClimateClothing.Ca.
What does sustainable clothing mean?

“It means that ever effort is made from the fiber to finished product to ensure the least harmful and most natural materials are used. Also using the least energy possible to produce and distribute the clothing. Starting at the fiber, using natural, easily renewable fibers like viscose from bamboo help lessen the amount of land and energy used. Using organic cotton instead of regular cotton prevents chemicals from getting into the surrounding natural and human environments. Using fibers found closest to the end retail location also cuts down on energy consumption.  The milling process of turning the organic fiber into a sustainable clothing item is also important. What chemicals are used to process the fiber? Some viscose from bamboo fabrics are processed heavily with chemical before they are finished. Natural color organic cotton and hemp is best because little processing is needed to make the finished fabric. What are the dyes used? Are they the least harmful kind or even natural dyes? Again mills located close to the where the clothing will end up are best for less energy use. The next level of production is the cutting and sewing of the sustainable clothing. Local is best, when items are made locally it is using less energy in transport. It is also great to shop local for from a community sustainability perspective. Shopping from a local reputable source also insures that fair labour practices are being used. Shipping is the final rung on the sustainable clothing ladder. Shipping less equals less energy and less environment damage.”

All of these things add up to what it takes to make organic, sustainable clothing. When a company pays attention to what it takes out of the world to make its product it makes all of our futures brighter and more secure.” Reproduced With Permission SaltsOrganic.com

How Do I Like prAna ?

Now that I’ve had the opportunity to try out the clothing line on my own, I can honestly say that I love, love, LOVE the brand! The jeans feel great & have a true to size cut to them. You won’t be surprised with you buy a size 10 but end up with a 8… that won’t happen here. The material is soft and just wonderful to feel on your skin. OH… they’re stylish, too! My daughter, who is 14, even complimented on the jeans. Her words were, ” Mom… you actually have like real clothes on that look nice?”. Geez… I think I may be holding onto the shorts & yoga pants thing a little too much, lol. I have got to change that!!
