How I Save $100’s On Car Maintenance
Do you have a car? I know a lot of us do have one (I have 3). Cars are very helpful items to have in life. They can get you where you need to go quick, fast, and in a hurry. Sometimes, a car can even serve as a home. And, like at home, we have problems that we have to fix and maintenance to do. A part of car maintenance is lights and the changing/replacing of said lights. Today, I’m going to give you some tips on how to save money on your vehicle’s lighting.
We Hate It, But It’s Necessary
Car maintenance is always something that we seem to forget about. And also sometimes a task we dread. Taking care of your car can be a very costly thing to do sometimes, especially if it’s past due and the “maintaining” cost has turned into a “repair” cost. But, if you keep up on your cars’ scheduled maintenance, you may be able to keep your car from having unforeseen issues. I like to try to do things myself when it comes to taking care of my car, to a point.
A Way To Save That Moolah
There are some things that you really do need a professional mechanic for, but there are so many things you can do on your own. For example, these past couple of years I’ve taught myself how to perform an oil change, change air filters (BOTH cabin and engine) in a car, and other things. And that has saved me a lot money and time when it comes to maintaining all 3 of my cars. I’m talking a savings between $1000-$2000 a year!
Lights, Camera, Action!
Okay, let’s get to the “lighting”. On average, a person pays a professional up to $110 on bulb replacement for the inside of their vehicle. The bulb(s) only cost $10-$15 for a set… you’re paying almost $100 for labor! This is why you DIY… especially for something as simple as a light change. I change my lights.. look:
Not only was I able to replace my old lighting, I upgraded to LED bulbs and gave myself better, brighter, lighting in less than 10 minutes. Best of all, I spent $15 and not the $119 that I was quoted. $15 + less than 10 minutes… and my lights are brand new! And when I say that this is an easy fix, I mean it. If you’re looking for the Amazon Gift card hint, here it is (search the birthday freebie list to see the next clue)! Look… I went on to YouTube & found out how to do this light bulb replacement… no lie!
I’m doing the same thing for the bulbs & the headlights of my Mazda & Jeep, although those require a little bit more “elbow grease“. It’s a great feeling to know your car is up to date and safe to drive. And it’s even better to know that you did it yourself.
I’m still in the process of learning how to do even more easy upgrades & fixes for my vehicles. But, they’re easy DIYs & they save me money and time. Plus, I’m learning new skills, upgrading my car to be more useful and even more beautiful… it’s win-win-BIG WIN for me. And it can be for you, too. So go learn how to care more for your car… you won’t regret it… I don’t!
